Testing the water!

Let me introduce myself. I am a most importantly a Mum to two boys but my recent passion is quilting.  I thought a blog may help me connect with other like minded people and give me inspiration for new projects. I struggle with the frumpy image that is given to quilting and certainly don't feel that I  fit into that box. As I type this though I realise that I am sporting a fetching cardigan which I probably shouldn't go out of the house wearing.

The internet has been invaluable to me while I learn the techniques and tips which make quilting such a pleasurable experience. Please bear with me though as writing is not my strong point.
This is my most recent project. A friend asked me to make two quilts for her sons. They love Minecraft - if you have missed this craze then think yourself pretty lucky, although it does keep my eldest quiet for hours so I shouldn't dis it too much. It is similar to Lego but on the P/C, tablet etc.     I created the pattern myself as it is quite straightforward. I kept the quilting to a minimum as I was pushed for time and the pattern didn't lend itself to be heavily covered.I am very self critical and wish that I had moved the black panels up by one square but the boys love them and that is the main thing. Any thoughts?
